May 11, 1906

“In Wilmington Lucia Guliana was placed on trial in the Federal Court on charge of having imported Rosa Caliente from Italy for immoral purposes. The girl was formerly an artist's model in Italy and one of the men summoned to serve on the jury is Howard Pyle, an artist, of Wilmington.”

I wish I did. In a letter of the same date to Charlotte Harding Brown, Pyle wrote, "I am so sorry that I did not see you at McClure's when you were in New York. I happened to be summoned to Wilmington on jury duty and had to leave Tuesday instead of Wednesday as is usual with me." So I think his jury duty started Wednesday, May 9, 1906, but I don't know how long it lasted, or what the verdict was.
